Using the Catalog

The Catalog is your team's guide to the data Huck can search. Use it to browse tables, see how well each one is described, and improve the details Huck relies on when answering questions.

Where to find it

In the app sidebar, open Catalog. You'll land on the Data Sources tab.

If you don't see Catalog, your account may not include Catalog access — ask your organization admin.

What you'll see

Your Data and Market Data

Tables are grouped so you can tell company data apart from shared market data:

  • Your Data — your organization's tables
  • Market Data — shared market tables available to your team (when enabled)

Use search to find a table by name. Click any table to open its detail view.

Quality dots

Each table shows up to four green dots. More filled dots means Huck has a clearer picture of that data:

  1. Description — what the table contains
  2. Business context — rules, units, and abbreviations
  3. Column docs — short explanations of important columns
  4. Example questions — verified questions that work well with this table

Better-described tables help Huck pick the right data more often.

Table details

Opening a table shows what Huck knows about it, including:

  • Description and business context
  • When to use this table (and when not to)
  • Optional query rules for tricky filters or SQL gotchas
  • Column descriptions
  • Example questions
  • Recent usage and freshness (when available)

Who can edit

What you can change depends on your role:

  • Viewers / standard users — browse tables and use Suggest a change when something looks wrong or incomplete
  • Analysts — propose edits that go for review
  • Organization admins and owners — save updates directly and review suggestions

Improving Catalog details helps Huck find the right tables and answer with your team's language and rules.

Tips for better answers

  • Start with a clear description — this is the most important field for discovery.
  • Add business context for units, abbreviations, and date conventions Huck should always know.
  • Use When to use to keep Huck from picking the wrong table for similar-looking questions.
  • Add example questions for patterns you've already verified in chat (a thumbs-up on a good answer is a great source).
  • After editing, use Test (when available) to check whether Huck finds the table for a sample question.
